Portions: 2
Ingredients
- 1 Large Onions
- Butter (1tsp per onion)
- Salt and Pepper
- Herbs (Rosemary, Thyme and Sage are good choices)
- Bay Leaves
- Balsamic Vinegar
Equipment
- Baking Tray
- Chopping Board
- Knife
Instructions
- Leave the papery skin on and then trim both ends of the onion
- Place in a baking tray
- Season both ends with Salt
- Place under a Grill until the onions start to caramelise
- Remove from the grill and Place a teaspoon of butter on top of each onion
- Sprinkle your herbs over the butter and add a couple of bay leaves to the tray
- Cover the backing tray with tinfoil
- Bake at 200C° for 60-90 minutes
- Spoon over the butter
- Serve with or without the outer layer with the papery skin on – but don’t eat the papery skin (it wont hurt you if you do, but it’s purpose is to keep the juices in the onion whilst cooking).
Optional – add a drizzle of Balsamic Vinegar before removing from the tray for that extra zing of flavour!
