Ninja-Foodi Air Fryer Settings Explained

Dehydrate, Bake, Reheat, Roast, Air Fry and Max Crisp - what on earth do they all do and how do they cook things differently?!

The short answer is Fan Speed!  The longer answer is as follows..

The Dehydrate function has the slowest fan speed and the lowest default temperature.  Time is shown in hours not minutes.  A very cost effective way of roasting a beef joint - similar to that of a slow cooker but 100% not the same thing.

The Reheat function has a low fan speed that is (as the name suggests) perfect for warming up leftover items such as pizza, fish and chips and sausage rolls etc.  Not as quick as a microwave but it wont make the leftovers go soggy as it crisps as it warms.

Bake has a medium fan speed and is as close as you're gonna get to a conventional oven and (in my experience) it is great for not burning pies!  If you're not sure what setting to use to cook something then start off with this setting and take it from there.

The Roast setting has a higher fan speed than bake and is best for cooking raw meat products from pork chops to a juicy steak!

The Air Fry mode has the highest fan speed setting and a default temperature of 200° and is the best setting you would use for anything you would normally put in a fryer.

Max Crisp also has the highest fan speed but the default temperature is 240°!!  Not normally used for cooking food from start to finish as it's designed to finish food off and crisp it up rather than cook if from scratch.

Don't forget the 10/20 rule, if there are no Air Fryer instructions on the food item you wish to cook then look at the Fan Oven temp/time and take 10% off the temperature and 20% off of the time and use the Bake setting - not 100% perfect so always check your food is cooked before eating it and learn the best settings for the things you like to cook.
