ALDI Emporium Lighter Mature Cheddar Versus Cathedral City Lighter

I love ALDI and every since I started doing my main monthly shop there back in March 2021 I've saved an absolute fortune.  I remember the early days and the prices were low, but (in my opinion) so was the quality - you get what you pay for and all that.

It was a bit of a lottery to whether or not something was going to taste nice or not or whether or not it was simply to your taste as some people insist on Heinz Tomato Ketchup and dislike the taste of all others, whereas some people can't tell the difference!

Fast-Forward to today and the prices (compared to other supermarkets) are still low but the quality has shot up dramatically!  There are still a few things I prefer not to buy from ALDI but I'm always willing to give something from there a go, which brings us to cheese!

I picked up the ALDI Emporium British Lighter Mature Cheddar cheese to see if this is something I like or not as it's cheaper than the Cathedral City Mature Lighter I normally buy and both cheeses are 30% less than their full-fat equivalent...

I'm afraid my tastebuds took a dislike to it as it was like eating a bit of rubber, so much so it ended up straight here after just one tiny bite:

Back to my usual brand it is then!   You just can't beat the creamy taste of Cathedral City and I can hardly tell any difference between that and their full-fat one.

Sorry ALDI, you didn't win this time.
