Easy Air Fryer Whole Roast Chicken

As I may have mentioned one of two times before, I love chicken and it doesn't get much better than a Roast Chicken!  Even a small whole chicken can take over and hour and a half to cook in a conventional oven but due to their compact size and heat efficiency a small whole chicken can take just 60 minutes to roast in a typical air fryer!

Portions: 2-4

Ingredients

  • 1 Small Whole Chicken (anything larger wont fit in to a typical air fryer)
  • Salt

Equipment

  • Air Fryer

Instructions

If you plan to make your own gravy from the juices of the chicken then I would strongly recommend you roughly chop up an onion and place it in the bottom of the air fryer underneath the crisper tray for extra flavour.

  1. Season the chicken with salt

  2. Place breast side down in the air fryer drawer

  3. Roast at 190°C for 60 minutes
  4. After 35ish minutes turn the chicken breast side up

  5. Check the internal temperature has reached 74°C and that the juices run clear
  6. Remove from the air fryer

  7. Place on a tray, cover in tin foil and rest for at least 15 minutes

  8. Carve and enjoy!

Serving Suggestion(s)

Best served with gravy made from the juices of the chicken that will be in the air fryers drawer along with vegetables of your choosing.
