Ramonas Original Houmous Review

Cost at time of review: £3.50 (500g)        Purchased From: TESCO

I'm feeling very middle class right now (and I'm most definitely not) as I'm about to write a review about some houmous (aka hummus) that I have tried...

I've always been a fan of houmous and have always purchased the supermarkets own brand.  Then they had to change the oil that they used due to the war in Ukraine as it turns out we used to get a lot of our oil in the UK from Ukraine so they started using a different oil from somewhere else and it didn't quite taste the same.

I've been (pun intended) dipping in and out of trying different supermarkets houmous for a while now but it isn't quite the same as I remember.  I've always seen the 'fancy' expensive houmous options but never tried them so thought it was about time I gave one a go...

At first I wasn't sure if I liked the creamy goodness of Ramona's Original Houmous but it wasn't long before the pot was empty and it was at that moment I realised it was the most delicious houmous I've ever tasted and well worth the premium price!

Just to be on the safe side, I have also tried it with some carrot sticks too (by celery will always be my favourite option) and it didn't disappoint.

They do a smaller 250g pot as well so if you wanted to try some for the first time I'd start with this to see if you enjoy it as much as I do.

My only concern is that with the supermarkets own brand houmous, the best before date is normally up to 1 week or so whereas the Ramona's Original Houmous has 1-2 months BBE so I wonder what they put in it to give it such a long shelf life.  With all the press about Ultra Processed Foods I do wonder what they've done to it compared to the own brand ones.  It hasn't stopped me buying it as it's very, very nice!

The fact that I keep re-purchasing this product goes to show how much I like/love it so I wont hesitate to give it the full 5-star treatment!
