The Best Batter Mix You Will Ever Need

You don't have to add all the spices listed below, but they do make a very tasty batter!

Why Gluten Free flour I hear you ask?!

Well it's not because I'm on a gluten free diet, nor am I pandering the needs to any fads and neither is it to make it inclusive so that anyone can enjoy this batter mix - quite simply it's because of all the additional starches it has (such as rice, potato, tapioca, maize and buckwheat) all this starch means it will be very, very crispy!

Ingredients

  • 100g Gluten Free Self Raising Flour
  • 1g Onion Powder
  • 1g Mace
  • 1g Cayenne Pepper
  • 1g Fine Salt
  • 1g Turmeric
  • 150ml Water
Don't worry if you don't have all the spices, add what you have and it'll still taste great!

Equipment

  • Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Jug

Instructions

  1. Add the flour and all the spices to a bowl and mix well
  2. Add two thirds of the water (100ml) and whisk in to a thick slurry
  3. Pour in the remaining water and whisk in to a batter

Serving Suggestion(s)

Great for frying fish in, onion rings and blooming onions!
