How To Make Your Own Homemade Italian Style Pizza Base Sauce Recipe

Portions: Enough for around 1/2 a dozen medium size pizzas

Ingredients

  • 1 Tin of Chopped Tomatoes
  • 1 Clove of Garlic
  • 3 tbs Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Oregano
  • 1/2 tsp Basil

Instructions

  1. Put all ingredients in to a bowl
  2. Mix it all together
That's it!

It's
perfect for freezing so don't worry about what to do with the leftovers or having to use it all up before it goes off, just use an ice cube tray I remove them from the tray when frozen and put them in to a freezer bag for use later on.

Serving Suggestion(s)

Funnily enough, this pizza base sauce goes very nicely on a pizza...

Pizza Topped Mushrooms Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 TBSP Olive Oil
  • 1/2 Onion Finely Chopped
  • 1/2 Clove of Garlic
  • 1/2 TSP Tomato Puree
  • 1/4 TSP Oregano
  • 2 Large Flat Mushrooms
  • Salami
  • 1 1/2 Tomatoes (Sliced)
  • Sliced Mozzarella
  • 1 TBSP Grated Cheddar Cheese
  • Salt and Pepper

Instructions

  1. Put the Olive Oil, Onion and Garlic in to a frying pan and cook slowly for around 5 minutes until the onion is soft

  2. Add the Tomato Puree and Oregano and give it a good mix

  3. Turn off the heat and oil a baking tray
  4. Place the Large Flat Mushrooms on the Oiled Baking Tray and season the mushrooms well with salt and pepper (trust me, this simple step really enhances the flavour of the mushroom).

  5. Spoon the Onion Mix in to the Mushrooms

  6. Top with slices of Salami, Tomato and Mozzarella

  7. Season with Salt and Pepper to taste
  8. Sprinkle on the Cheddar Cheese

  9. Place in the Oven at 200ยบ for around 15 minutes or until the cheese has melted and the mushrooms are juicy!

Serving Suggestion(s)

I think this would go very well with some Glamorgan Sausages (not yet shown in the photos)...

Taco Seasoning (Home Made Mix) Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1.5 TSP Chilli Flakes
  • 1 TSP Cumin
  • 1 TSP Paprika
  • 1/2 TSP Onion Powder
  • 1 TSP Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 TSP Oregano
  • 1/4 CUP Warm Water

Instructions

  1. Put all dry ingredients in a small bowl and mix together
  2. Mix in the Warm Water
For me 1kg of minced beef is too much to eat in one sitting so unless you are batch cooking a load to put in the freezer, put the dry mix ingredients in a small sealable jar and use accordingly - i.e. if your cooking 500g of mince for your taco's then use half the mix or for 250g use a quarter of it and then add the warm water when required (just use less etc).

Serving Suggestion(s)

Erm, make Tacos with them!
