Febreze Plug-In from SuperSavvyMe Still Going Strong

Febreze Plug-In Air Freshener

I plugged this little beauty in around 3 days ago and after initially setting it on the medium setting, I switched it to low (so it can last up 90 days) and it has been smelling very fresh ever since!

Quite a subtle smell (as it's on low) but plenty enough to mask the pongy odour that was there previsously - pleasantly surprised with the low setting working so well.

How To Get 5% Off Your Iceland or Food Warehouse Shop Each and Every Week

Sounds too good to be true doesn't it - well it's not!  If you shop and Iceland or the Food Warehouse (by Iceland) then you can get an additional 5% off of your shop when pre-loading your Iceland Bonus Card.  For every £20 deposited they give you a £1 bonus which equates to 5% which is how you can get 5% off your shop!

So how does it work?

You can use the physical card in-store and the virtual card online that will be associated with your online Iceland account.

If you shop in-store then you can hand your physical card to the cashier and put as little or as much cash on the card as you like and for every £20 you save, a £1 bonus gets added to your Bonus Card.

For example if you want to use it to save up for a special event like a Birthday Party or Christmas then you can save £5 a month so after 4 months you would have £20 on your Bonus Card and at that point a £1 bonus would get applied so what I'm saying is, you dont have to load on £20 at a time to get the bonus, it's each time you hit the £20 milestone.

Personally I order from Iceland online (free delivery when spending over £40) as they have quite a few exclusive deals that are online only.  I add all my shopping to the basket and see what it comes to and I then load up my Bonus Card with that amount (I actually round it up to the nearest £1 else it looks messy to me)!

For example my last Iceland shop online came to £69 (got a few 24 packs of fizzy drinks cans that were on offer) so I uploaded £70 to my Bonus Card and within a few minutes a £3 bonus had been added to my account!

How Do I Get One?

You should be able to get a physical card in-store at the cash desk and for the online one you will need to create an Iceland account (unless you already have one) and go to the link below and click on Join Bonus Card.

https://www.iceland.co.uk/bonus-card

Word of warning: I don't think the in-store Bonus Card and online ones are linked (at least I don't think mine are) so if you load money on the card online you may not be able to spend it instore (just online) and vice-versa if you load your physical card in-store you may not be able to spend it online.

Enjoy getting a £1 Bonus payment everytime you save/spend with Iceland!

Blue Light Card - What Is It and Who Can Get One?

What is it?

It's a discount card where you can get discount off of anything from a Laptop to Car Insurance and pretty much everything inbetween!

Some companies offer a discount in their stores, some online and some offer it in both - if you get a BLC then always ask when at the till as the worst thing they can do is say no they don't accept it, but if they do then you'll get some money off.

I have personally used it to get money off of restaurant bills and more recently, a large genuine discount off of my prescription glasses!  Even some fast food restaurants offer a discount on production of it, some require you to order through a specific app or website link (KFC and McDonalds have offered discounts before but you had to order through the app).

At the moment I even get a (tiny) Blue Light Card discount at ASDA but you have to have the ASDA Rewards App and add it to the app and then you get extra cash back on your reward card.

Who can get one?

Originally it was just for Blue Light Workers i.e. people who work for the Emergency Services - a way of saying thank you for what they all do.

It has recently been opened up to people who work in Schools (Support Staff as well as Teachers) so if you work in a School and want to apply, simply choose Teacher from the drop down list regardless of your role/job title.

Here is a list of who can currently apply for a Blue Light discount Card:

How much does it cost?

£4.99 for two years.  You will get a physical card sent to you in the post and virtual card you can use in the Blue Light Card on you Smart Phone.

How do I apply?

On their website: www.bluelightcard.co.uk

Pressure Cooked Frozen Chicken Legs and Veg with Onion Gravy in a NinjaFoodi

Portions: 2

Ingredients

  • 2 Chicken Legs
  • Carrots & Other Veg (I'm using mushrooms and mini corn cobs)
  • Asparagus
  • Butter
  • Garlic
  • Small Onion (finely chopped)
  • 500ml of hot water
  • Gravy Granules

Equipment

  • Electric Pressure Cooker (I'm using a Ninja Foodi)
  • Small pan for the gravy
  • Frying Pan
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Sieve

Instructions

  1. Mix to small teaspoons of Chicken Gravy Granules in to 500ml of water and pour in to your pressure cooker bowl

  2. Place your (Frozen) Chicken Legs in to the pressure cooker

  3. Set the Temperature to High and the Time to 15 minutes

  4. Prepare whatever vegetables you fancy for you meal

  5. If you're having some Asparagus then wait until there is 5 minutes cooking time left and then add the butter, garlic and Asparagus to the frying pan and start to cook it

  6. When the time is up on the pressure cooker, stop the cooking and release the steam!

  7. Remove the chicken breasts from the Pressure Cooker and put to one side

  8. Add your vegetables to the Pressure Cooker

  9. Either add the Chicken Legs back in to the Pressure Cooker to finsish them off or if like me you like the skin crispy, wrap them in tin foil to keep them warm and then crisp them up in the air fryer function.

  10. Set the Pressure Cooker temperature to High and set the Time for 3-4 minutes (depending on how soft you like your veggies)

  11. When the time is up, release the steam!  Then strain the vegetables over a saucepan.

  12. Keep the veggies that you have just strained warm (I put them in a dish/bowl with a bit of tin foil on the top)

  13. Add the chopped onion to the saucepan and heat up to a gentle simmer

  14. The onions will slowly start to soften.  Check the consistency of the gravy and add more Gravy Granules until it is at the thickness you prefer

  15. When the onions have softened and the gravy is nice and thick, you are ready to dish up!

  16. Serve and enjoy!

How Long Do I Cook Roast Beef Joint for in a Ninja Foodi Pressure Cooker Setting

250g beef joint for 20 minutes on High for Well Done.

After the cooking time, remove the beef, wrap in tinfoil and leave to rest.

Add your vegetables to the stock already in the Ninja Foodi and Pressure Cook for 3 minutes.

When the 3 minutes is up, place a sieve over a saucepand and carefully pour in the stock which you can now turn in to gravy!

Instead of using cornflour to thicken my gravy I always use Bisto Gravy granules to add flavour and thicken it.

MMmmm!  Delicious!  See it on TikTok below:

Homemade Bacon and Duck Egg Muffin

Trying out my new frying pan (again) this morning:

New Scoville Wok and Frying Pan

The non-stick on my existing Frying Pan and Wok has started to wear away after nearly 4 years of use so time to get some new ones...

I initially put the 30cm frying pan in my trolley but I later changed my mind and went for the 24cm one instead.

£18.94 for TWO items is a great deal - better than half price actually!  Can't wait to give them a go.

How Long To Cook 1kg of Gammon In A Pressure Cooker Ninja Foodi

12-15 minutes per 500g so 1kg pressure cooked for 30 minutes will come out lovely!

I like to add some stock, vegetables and bay leaves (not just water) so I can make a nice gravy when it's cooked.

Set the Pressure Cooker setting to High and time to 30 minutes.

Although it is perfectly cooked in 30 minutes in the pressure cooker, the fat wont be crispy but that is easily fixed by using the air fryer feature to turn it in to crackling should you so wish.

I was hungry and couldn't be bothered to wait any longer so left it as it was and served with some garlic butter Asparagus and some peas.

ALDI Lasagne Al Forno Gastro by Specially Selected Review

Cost at time of review: £3.45        Purchased From: ALDI

I've not had Lasagne for a long time and I happed to be in ALDI when I saw their very reasonably priced Specially Selected on so thought I'd give it a go...

It took just 25 minutes to cook from chilled and smelt very nice as I removed it from the oven.

If it tastes as good as it smells then I'm in for a treat so here goes nothing...

The beef ragu sauce was delicious and unlike the cheaper lasagnes you get, it wasnt too sweet and the béchamel sauce was nice too (as was the melted cheese on top).

As you can see, I thoroughly enjoyed the ALDI Lasagne Al Forno!

A very delicious lasagne that didn't disappoint.  The only negative thing I would say is that for me, the minced beef was a bit too fine and I would have liked it to have been a bit more coarser/meatier.

Money Saving Tip - Always Get A Receipt On The Self Checkouts at Tesco

Have you ever been stopped by the security guard after setting off the alarm at the exit after using the self checkout at Tesco?  Me neither!  That's just one reason to always get a receipt at the self checkouts, the other reason it because you never know what else you might get...

Sometimes you might get a voucher for a few extra Clubcard points but occasionally you'll get one like this that is for 100% off of a product they think you might like!  In the past I've had a few vouchers for thing like Fairy washing up liquid and some washing machine capsules so like I say, always get a receipt at the Tesco Self Checkout as you never know when you'll get a voucher to try a product for free!

How Long Do You Cook Lamb Ribs In The Ninja Foodi Pressure Cooker

20 minutes and they're done - 30 minutes and the meat falls off the bone!  Place under a grill for 8 minutes a side on around 180 to crisp up the fat and make it litterally, melt in the mouth...
