Are you looking for gristly meat full of more fat/gristle than meat itself that has been pumped full of water? Then don't got to Desborough Butchers because you wont find any of that rubbish - only top quality, delicious and tasty meat is sold here!
The only issue I have with the butchers in Desborough is that it's only open when I'm at work so it's extremely difficult for me to shop there, if you're unemployed and out of work then you can visit during the day but if you're a hard working taxpayer working a full-time job then sadly you'll struggle to shop here and (like me) will be missing out on top quality meat and will have to shop at Lidl or Morrisons instead...
Anyway, I managed to slope off early today so raced home (not exceeding the speed limits of course) and drove past the butchers to see if it was still open and it was so I went fully around the roundabout and parked up in the parking bay opposite K.P. Wolfenden butchers and legged it in as fast as I could.
It goes without saying, but I had to get the obligatory scrumptious streaky bacon and as I fancied some lamb chops for my tea I got some of those as well.
The only lamb chops on display were double ones, the butcher did offer to cut them in half for me, I nearly said yes please but then realised I always cook two when I have them so what would be the point?!
I got three thick cut meaty double lamb chops for a little over £12 so around £2 per half lamb chop like you get in the shops, only they were double the thickness, time to get the scales out...
£12 for 812g of top quality meaty lamb chops works out at approximately £1.47 per 100g
The lamb chops I normally have to buy I get from Aldi and cost £5.49 for 4 which works out at £1.37 each compared to the £2 I have just paid at a proper butchers.
However, the ones from the butchers were twice as thick and much, much meatier and if you do the maths (£5.49 for 340g) the Aldi ones work out at £1.61 per 100g so actually, the top quality produce from my local butchers in Desborough is not only better quality, they're cheaper too!
Instead of buying 4 thin lamb chops from Aldi I am much better off buying 2 (or 1 double) thick and meaty lamb chops from the Desborough Butchers.
