I love chicken and there's nothing better than munching down on some delicious fried chicken wings so when I saw this Fry Mix in Morrisons I just had to give it a try!
My only concern was if it was going to be too hot and spicy..
Throwing caution to the wind out of the window, I covered my chicken in plenty of the Indus Special Chicken Fry Mix (Hot & Spicy) dry rub and left it to sit for 30 minutes before putting it in the fryer at 180°C for 15 minutes (turning half way through cooking). For extra crispiness I then put them on at wire rack in the oven at 120°C for 15 minutes. I must admit though, one wing didn't make it to the oven as I just had to test one!
I had some baby potato salad and coleslaw in the fridge which are perfect accompaniments to fried chicken wings and might take the heat away if they are too hot for me..
I needn't have bothered with the coleslaw and potato salad as (sadly) these chicken wings were about as hot and spicy as an ice cold glass of water.
They didn't even taste of anything much, very bland in flavour. Very disappointed and I don't think I shall use the rest of the tub let alone buy it again.
Not hot, not spicy and not flavoursome, just bland and tasteless really.
Overall I am giving them a generous half a star rating and the only reason I'm giving them that much is because at least it didn't taste horrible.
